Website Prices in Tanzania 2026: TSh Costs in Dar es Salaam, Arusha and Zanzibar
Real TSh prices for business, safari and online shop websites in Tanzania, plus .co.tz domains, M-Pesa payments and what upkeep should cost.

If you run a business in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma or Zanzibar, you have probably been quoted very different prices for a website. One designer says TSh 150,000, another says TSh 3 million. Both can be fair. It depends on what is included, and what happens after the site goes live.
This guide explains the real costs in plain language, so you can budget properly and avoid paying twice.
The short answer
Tanzanian price guides for 2026 put a basic business website at around TSh 300,000 to 800,000 (very roughly $115 to $310), for a site of up to about 10 pages that works on phones. An online shop usually costs TSh 1,000,000 to 4,000,000, and a fully custom design from about TSh 2,600,000 upwards.
Ongoing maintenance is commonly quoted at TSh 10,000 to 50,000 a month, depending on how much support you need.
Prices by type of website
Basic business website: TSh 300,000 to 800,000. Home page, services or price list, about, gallery, contact and a WhatsApp button. Right for most shops, salons, clinics, restaurants and contractors.
Tour and safari website: TSh 500,000 to 3,000,000. Popular in Arusha, Moshi and Zanzibar, with booking forms, itineraries and often English plus another language for international guests.
Online shop: TSh 1,000,000 to 4,000,000. Product listings, a cart and payment integration.
Custom design: from about TSh 2,600,000. Built around your brand from scratch, for businesses that want to stand out.
The costs people forget
Domain name
Your web address. A .co.tz address shows customers you are a Tanzanian business, while a .com works better if you serve tourists or customers abroad. Either way, it must be renewed every year, and it should be registered in your name.
Hosting
The server your site lives on. Cheap hosting is often slow on mobile data, and slow sites lose customers before the page even loads.
Updates
Menus, prices and phone numbers change. If your designer charges for every small edit, or disappears, your site goes out of date and customers stop trusting it.
Why many Tanzanian business websites go offline
The most common story: a business pays once, the site goes live, and a year later the domain or hosting expires because nobody renewed it. The site disappears and the money is wasted. A fixed monthly plan, where someone is responsible for keeping it online, avoids this.
Getting paid: mobile money and cards
Most Tanzanian customers pay with mobile money such as M-Pesa or Airtel Money, while tourists and overseas customers prefer cards. A good business website shows your payment options clearly and has a WhatsApp button, so customers can ask a question and pay in the way they trust.
Do you need a website if you are on Instagram and WhatsApp?
Instagram is great for showing your work, but it rarely appears when someone searches Google for "salon in Masaki" or "safari operator in Arusha". A simple website plus a Google Business Profile puts you on the map and turns those searches into WhatsApp chats.
What SiteDrum costs in Tanzania
Fixed prices in US dollars, with hosting, security and updates included in the monthly fee. Founding customers currently get 50% off setup:
Starter: $49 setup (normally $99), then $15 a month. A mobile one page site, WhatsApp button and Google Business Profile.
Business: $124 setup (normally $249), then $29 a month. Up to 5 pages, booking form, local SEO and monthly updates.
Premium: $249 setup (normally $499), then $59 a month. Larger sites or an online shop, plus an AI WhatsApp assistant.
That puts a Starter site well inside the normal Tanzanian price range, but with hosting, your domain for the first year and ongoing updates already included. Most sites are live within 7 days, and you see a free mockup before you pay.
Five questions to ask any web designer
Who owns the domain? Is hosting included, and for how long? Who updates prices and photos, and is that extra? What happens if you are not available next year? How many days until it is live? A good provider answers all five clearly, in writing.
